Nihal Sarin wins Spirit of Sports activities award at Sportstar Aces 2023


Chess prodigy Nihal Sarin gained the 2023 Sportstar Aces In style Alternative Award for Spirit of Sports activities (Examples of Sportstmanship) on the Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai on Monday. “Thank you to the Hindu group and Sportstar for nominating me for this award. I am not a great speaker, but I am really thankful for this recognition,” stated a smiling Sarin.

Sarin gained reward for his sportsmanship when he resigned in three strikes towards World No. 2 Ding Liren after the Chinese language participant misplaced the sport resulting from poor web connection within the Pace Chess Championship.

Nihal had a 3.0-2.0 lead over Liren, who didn’t register a transfer and ran out of time throughout their match within the Pace Chess Championship knockouts. Nevertheless, in a shock transfer, the 18-year-old Nihal selected to resign in simply three strikes, bringing the rating to 4.0-3.0.
