The Indian contingent at Chess Olympiad has been nominated for the ‘Popular Choice – National Team of the Year’ award for the upcoming Sportstar Aces Awards 2023.
The energy and depth of Indian chess was in full present on the Chess Olympiad in Chennai. India fielded three groups every within the open and girls’s sections and walked away with medals galore.

Out of the 36 medals at stake, India clinched 9.
In addition to ‘India-2’ and ‘India-1’ profitable bronze medals within the open and girls’s sections, there have been some glowing performances on the person boards.
D. Gukesh and Nihal Sarin received gold, with Gukesh catching the attention by profitable all his first eight video games on the highest board within the Open part. The crew they have been a part of – ‘India-2’ – deservedly received numerous reward.

There are 27 classes of awards this 12 months – 5 Standard Alternative and 22 Jury awards.
The 5 Standard Alternative awards are Sportsman of the Yr, Sportswoman of the Yr, Nationwide Crew of the Yr, Membership Crew of the Yr and Sporting Second of the Yr.
